2022 has been such an exciting year for the Magical app, the Magical team, and all the incredible Magicians who use the app. In the spirit of this holiday season, let’s take a look back at how much has changed over the last 365 days—including the top updates and tricks that have helped skyrocket the productivity of over 10,000+ teams around the world.

Magical in 2022: the big numbers

Here at Magical, it’s our goal to eliminate soul-crushing busywork and make teams more productive. In 2022, Magicians using the app saved a collective 2276 years of time by automating over 105 million tasks. (That’s, uh, a lot of busywork.) 🤯

Magical in 2022: news & media

Earlier this year, Magical had a big moment in the spotlight when we launched on Product Hunt (#1 Product of the Week) and announced $41 million in funding. Since then, Magical has been listed as one of the most promising consumer startups of 2022 in Business Insider, and featured on the front page of Fast Company.

The Magical team in 2022

Since the beginning of 2022, the Magical team has more than doubled in headcount. Our team has had some amazing off-site adventures (including company trips to Iceland and the Dominican Republic), tackled some tough challenges, and learned a lot along the way. Oh, and we’re totally hiring if you’re interested by the way. 😉

The top 5 new Magical tricks in 2022

There have been a ton of new tricks added to Magical in the last year. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights—starting at the beginning of the year.

1. Improved search functionality

Ever find yourself using Ctrl+F to find that shortcut you made last Tuesday? Not anymore! We introduced search within the Magical workspace in January 2022—and supercharged the dropdown with search functionality and better usability in September 2022.

2. Faster data transfers

Transfers allow you to move data between a source and destination. Sources and destinations are any web page or web app on the internet.  For example, you may want to move data from LinkedIn (source) to Google Sheets (destination), or LeadIQ(source) to Salesforce (destination). First introduced in May 2022, this has been a game-changer for anyone who does data entry as part of their job.

3. Simpler and smarter variables

We made variables even simpler to use and work smarter in May 2022 as well. Magical now automatically fills your variable fields with corresponding data from your open tabs. For example, if you’re using a shortcut that includes a “First name” variable, Magical will recognize any open tab with a corresponding “First name” variable and fill it for you.

4. Shared team shortcuts (Beta)

Get more productive as a team. Save your coworkers 1 day a week by sharing your most effective messages. You can now access your shared shortcuts wherever you need them, right in the Magical panel. This feature is still in beta, but you can sign up to try it right on the Magical home page.

5. Autocomplete suggestions on forms and messages

Who has time to remember and type out details? In October 2022, Magical introduced auto-fill suggestions so you can pull info from your open tabs into any web form. (Like a CRM or an ATS.) And now, you can even use this same technology to autocomplete the name of the person you’re messaging on LinkedIn InMail. Just hit TAB to see the magic.

(✨Coming soon: more autocompletes on all your favorite apps. ✨)

What’s next for Magical in 2023?

The next year is sure to be an exciting one at Magical. The team is focused on making the app even easier to use. (Plus, helping the Magicians who use it to save even more time and become more productive in their roles.) There is a big opportunity for Magical to become the best and most useful ambient automation app on the market, changing the way teams work forever.

Stay tuned—the magic is just getting started. 🪄
